Some good advice. When used correctly your dog can soon learn to walk by your side without ever pulling on the lead. It's great when it finally happens.

There are such instances sometimes. One should be able to control the dog or he can overpower you especially when he is not trained. A powerful dog can be dangerous for the owner as well as others, training is important.

Yep, very good. One other thing I noticed is that when I used to use a body Harness, I could rarely apply a decent correction to my dogs. Once I started using a leash and collar, it seemed that both of my dog's attitudes changed. It was obvious to me that they were more in tune with what I was trying to get out of them.

The other thing that I'd like to mention is that if you are training, you should try to get the collar up closed to the head as possible. This gives more control, and again, the dog appears to be more attentive. Of course, there is no need to worry so much about this with puppies, as most of it is very basic training...

Well, the only thing I might suggest is that often there are good reasons for using a leash and a collar. For one thing, it is almost impossible to provide a mild correction with a body harness as opposed to a collar.

My Jack Mix was quite a puller as well. You wouldn't think so by his size, but he has such powerful sholders. We found the harnesses enabled him to pull us more! It was tough because he wasn't good with the heal command and we didn't want to use choke collars. We found the Gentle Leader through a recommendation from our vet. It worked wonders. He didn't really mind it on his face actually and it works so well without pulling on his neck or face. It's great! I highly recommend this product to anyone too.
